Report: Celtic now keen to sign excellent World Cup striker who once scored against Ange

Celtic wantCho Gue-sungafter seeing the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker find the net twice for South Korea at the World Cup.

The Bhoys have already secured their first signing for January having agreed terms with Vissel Kobe defender Yuki Kobayashi.

It looks like Celtic will soon have another signing coming in too with CF Montreal right back Alistair Johnston set to arrive in Glasgow.

Johnston has been impressing at the World Cup with Canada and Celtic could now target another player showing promise over in Qatar.

The Scottish Sun reportthat Celtic have now joined the race to sign South Korean striker Cho Gue-sung.

Its suggested that Celtic are now one of a number of European clubs chasing Cho ahead of January.

Cho, 24, hit the headlines earlier this week having scored twice in quick succession for South Korea against Ghana.

The first was a lovely diving header from close range and the second was a towering header at the back post to bring South Korea level.

Cho was sadly on the end of a 3-2 defeat in the end but his two-goal salvo did enough to attract interest.

The 6ft 2in striker was outstanding in the 2022 K League season, smashing 17 goals and five assists in 31 games.

No player scored more in the K League than Cho and he has now showcased his attacking ability at the World Cup too.

Its worth noting here that Cho has already completed his mandatory military service and that wont be a problem moving forward for any club who wants to sign him.

Former Tottenham defender Lee Young-pyo has claimedthat a European director has been asking him about Cho, who hailed the striker for his excellent ability in front of goal.

Cho even scored for Jeonbuk against Ange Postecoglous Yokohama F. Marinos in 2020 and they could end up joining forces at Celtic if the Bhoys get their way.
